About CDx Laboratories

CDx Laboratories, Inc. (CDx) is a specialty anatomic pathology laboratory that utilizes its patented, minimally invasive biopsy and tissue analysis technologies to increase the detection of the precursors of oral, laryngeal and esophageal cancer. Although these cancers can be prevented when detected at the precursor (i.e., dysplastic) stage, they historically have had some of the lowest survival rates of any cancers due to late detection and the limitations of conventional diagnostic methods.

Esophageal adenocarcinoma, in particular, is the most rapidly growing form of cancer in the U.S. Its prevalence has quadrupled in white American men over the last 20 years, and currently has a five-year survival rate of less than 14%. The Company recently completed its pivotal multi-center clinical trial of its esophageal testing system in over 1,200 patients. This study concluded that CDx testing when used by gastroenterologists (GIs) can be expected to increase the detection of the precursors of esophageal adenocarcinoma by greater than 30%. One of the most important developments in otolaryngology is the recent commercial acceptance of transnasal esophagoscopy (TNE) to search for the precursors of adenocarcinoma. No satisfactory biopsy procedure for TNE has yet been established. Based on this study management expects that otolaryngologists (ENTs) adopting transnasal esophagoscopy will utilize the CDx testing system as their standard of care.

All of CDx´s products and services have received all required regulatory approvals and have established medical insurance coding and payment schedules for billing of both the physician´s CDx biopsy procedure and CDx´s pathology services.
